Prioritizing Development
Hall of Fame NFL Coach Bill Walsh titled one of his most famous books, The Score Takes Care of Itself. This focus on the process was what enabled a once defunct 49ers organization to be a championship dynasty for years to come. Much like Coach Walsh, at Sunrise we work to place the emphasis on the process and development rather than the scoreboard, knowing that as we work to maximize who and what our students are, the results will take care of themselves. Our program takes no pride in wins, stars, or awards unless the growth of the student-athlete as a player and as a man has been prioritized above everything else.
This emphasis on perfecting the process of development in each individual player forces us as a staff to learn the unique learning styles of the individual with open hands while maintaining a closed fist around the emphasis points that we know to be non-negotiables in the growth of any player under our guidance / care.
Sunrise Christian Academy has been and will continue to be a place where development is not only looked for on the basketball court, but also in the classroom, weight room, and house rooms for the sake of what we know will take place in future board rooms. Academics and spiritual / emotional growth are also a vital part of the holistic development we strive to achieve at SCA.
Incredibly high standards meet impossibly deep care.
