Ben McKinney ('27) Announces Commitment to SCA
BEL AIRE, KANSAS -
Indianapolis product Ben McKinney officially made the decision to join Sunrise Christian Academy's Class of 2027, bringing his 6'10" frame and relentless work ethic to Kansas. A forward with size, skill, and a high ceiling, McKinney has earned a reputation for playing with nonstop energy—whether he's chasing down loose balls, setting hard screens, or rising above defenders for alley‐oop finishes. His decision to suit up for Sunrise Christian underscores the program's commitment to developing talent that combines physical tools with a blue‐collar mindset.
When asked about the commitment, Coach Kyle Lindsted said, "We can't wait to get our group together in August. We've got a special group that we know are committed to one thing above anything else - growth. Ben, Myla, and the entire family have been great through the entire process. From the first day we met them they have been all about getting better and putting the program first. We all appreciate their trust and can't wait to see just how high Ben's ceiling is as he grows over the next two years here."
As McKinney arrives at Sunrise Christian Academy, the program gains a forward who embodies grit and growth. With his combination of size, effort, and willingness to learn, he's poised to make an impact on both ends of the floor. If his trajectory so far is any indication, Ben McKinney will be a cornerstone piece for a roster built on toughness, teamwork, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
In 2024-25, Sunrise Christian Academy finished fourth in the EYBL Scholastic Conference regular season standings. After qualifying for the end-of-season conference tournament, SCA eventually fell in the semifinals completing an 8-5 conference season - finishing ranked as high as #8 in the country according to different sports media outlets.
Sunrise Christian Academy is a college-preparatory, nondenominational, K4-12 Christian school graduating 45-50 seniors each year with enrollment well over 700 students.
